Public Storage - Westwood - 20 East Street

This is not the first time I’ve been unable to access my belongings. Despite the fact that they charge an additional monthly fee for access at requested times, I still can’t get to my own storage unit. A few days ago, there was an issue with the elevator. Today, access is denied again due to snow. This is extremely frustrating. It feels like the Westwood location is being neglected by Public Storage. The company is not maintaining the property properly and is not clearing the roads promptly.

My rate started low. Then they wanted to increase it to $700 for February 1st. I moved out, obviously. I was there for an entire day. Never saw the manager. I wanted to ask about getting some supplies; impossible if no one works there. The office was always locked up and lights off. The dumpster was locked up and couldn't ask if we could toss in the broken items the movers left. The bathrooms were locked up early. When they were open, there was no toilet paper or soap or paper towels! Oh and if security is important to you, be aware that the gates are never closed when they should be. The app does not work to use for access. And if you moved from out of state and transfer your license, they ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT help you under any circumstances.

Ashley was very helpful and polite, she helped me find a storage space that would fit all of my things. Also she gave great tips on how to to pack my unit and suggested putting my things in plastic bins.

Hello Public Storage: Every great company in a service business such as yours either rises or falls on the temperament and human kindness of the people who sit behind the counter. I write to sing the praises of Richard, with whom I have had several interactions. I had gotten an alarming — but important— email from your team regarding the fact that, in a routine security check, the team noted that I had not properly locked my unit, which is on the first floor. This morning, I got a call from Richard— who has been so kind in every interaction that I have ever had with him. To my mind, kindness is everything. It is the Tom Brady move of service. And Richard has it in spades: He went the extra mile, wanting to let me know in real time. This is what makes Public Storage a truly great company. You have such secure facilities. That is great. But it is this kindness that jumps out, and I will tell you why: People rent from you for all reasons, but one of them is putting into storage the remaining belongings of a loved one who has passed away. That is my particular circumstance, and why, whenever I go to the storage unit to clear out the remaining memories of my life with my parents, I do something crazy, like thinking I have locked the unity when I have not. It is always a fraught moment. Richard, when he called this morning, completely understood. He is a star. And I am so very grateful.

One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. My late father was a long-term client, and even after I provided all legal documents, I was stonewalled for weeks. The property manager is never in the office, constantly lies, misses appointments, and takes zero accountability. Public Storage put their own lock on the unit, then admitted they had no key, no tools, and told me it was “my problem.” Corporate points you back to the manager, and the manager blames corporate. A complete nightmare—unprofessional, unhelpful, and disrespectful. Avoid this place at all costs.
