On my recent visit to Public Storage, I entered the facility around 8:30 PM and attempted to leave at approximately 9:00 PM, but the main gate would not open and I was effectively stuck inside. Later, i found out that working hours are 6-9 but there were no signs that if i enter i wont be able to get out. What made this unacceptable is the complete lack of support after hours. No one answered the phone, and leaving a voicemail resulted in no callback. The keypad/terminal inside the facility also did not work, and the emergency/customer service button did nothing. In other words, there was no functioning after-hours or emergency assistance available when access failed. After waiting for roughly two hours in cold conditions with no help, I tried a secondary exit gate. That gate was secured with a chain, but the chain was unlocked, and I was able to open it with no effort and leave. That is a serious security risk—if I could do that, so can anyone. I’m moving out immediately and will not store anything valuable here. This facility needs reliable gate systems, real after-hours emergency support, and proper security controls.
