At least one member of my extended family has had a storage unit here for the last 7 years. It was once an excellent facility with a full time attendant and we never had any issues but there is no way I would store here again:
1). Customer service - When we first moved in there was a full time, very knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating attendant. That’s one of the reasons we chose the facility, After a while they reduced the attendant hours (in the name of corporate profits) and it became more and more inconvenient to drop off keys for refund, ask a question, or get help. The now very part time attendant has given us incorrect info multiple times and it’s almost impossible to speak to a real person outside those hours. In other words, this facility now has terrible customer service.
2) Mold - When we downsized units from a 10x25 to a 10x20 - all was good, but when we went to downsize from 10x20 to a 10x15 we discovered ALL of our wood furniture was covered with fuzzy white mold and our soft furnishings had mildew spots. No, we did not move damp furnishings because we just moved to another (smaller) unit and our stuff was already there. The unit was not “stuffed” as we always allow airflow.
The mold was terrible. It was incompetent of the facility, heartbreaking for me to throw away family memories, and dangerous because of the mold.
My best guesss is around the same time they reduced attendant hours they also worked on reducing their AC bill in their temperature controlled units.
3) Rate hikes - They have a dirty policy of raising rents. If you only need a unit for a couple months, one of their online deals will work fine but if you are a long term renter, consider another facility. Their advertised specials involve 1st month free, a percent off the rent, with the “real” rent visible on the page, showing the savings, or some other similar hook. That’s all well and good but no rate is not locked so your entrance rate will not last long. Worse is the “non sale” rate won’t last long either. Your rent will bump much, much higher - almost double anything advertised on their page. You be will be notified of the rent increase but it’s still predatory.
4) German cockroaches - I have not seen any live cockroaches but I have seen dead ones in the nooks around the doors. I scared to bring stored items home.
5) Management - Last but not least, we were offered a rate lock by email. Of course the very part time attendant didn’t know the details and gave incorrect info. We made a decision based on this post info which caused us to lose the rate lock and were told to contact the district manager. the district manager refused to honor it or accommodate for his employees mistake.
So…..be warned and learn from our not-so-great experience. There are very, very many newer and better facilities in the area. Almost any of them will be better.

I’ve noticed that other negative reviews left by other people have also disappeared. For the person flagging for removal, I am not violating community rules and I have receipts to back up what I’m saying.
At least one family member has had a storage unit under their name at the battleground facility for over 7 years. It is in a very convenient location for us and when we first started renting, the facility had a full time attendant and served us well. Over the last several years the facility management has give downhill for numerous reasons:
1) Customer service: The full time attendant has been replaced with a very part time attendant. They are not knowledgeable, have given incorrect information, and are rarely there. It is very inconvenient and it’s almost impossible to speak with a live person. I’m assuming the reduction in office hours was a cost saving measure.
2) Mold: Around the sane time the attendant hours were reduced we downsized our unit again and this time when we went in to our “temperature controlled” unit, we found all of our wood furniture covered in white, furry mold and mildew spots on our soft furnishings. She had to throw many items away. No, we did not move wet furniture into the unit, we had already downsized once before. Yes, we left breathing room around the furniture. We list several pieces of my late mom’s things that o dearly would have liked to keep. It was heartbreaking and all mold is dangerous.
3) Cockroaches: On 2 occasions we have seen dead German cockroach bodies near the door rails. Note, I’ve never seen a live one there so whatever they are spraying may be working, but I’m still scared to bring things home.
4) Price gouging: They almost always have move in specials but if you are a long term renter you should know that after the move in special is over and you bump to the normal rate, they will bump it again shortly after, to a much higher price. You will receive notification that your unit rent has gone up.
5) Management; We received an email offer for a price lock and moved forward on it after asking the attendant several questions. We moved units based on the information given to us which was a lot of work. It went to the district manager and they refused to honor it or make up for the attendants incorrect information.
There are a lot of newer, better, and just as competitively priced storage facilities in Greensboro. If you want a better experience, consider one of those instead.
Easy online process. Lou Ann contacted me and answered all my questions before I confirmed rental. Then she followed up a few days later to be sure I did not have any problems accessing the building and unit. Made sure I had her contact info if I ever had any problems. Great customer service!
We love our unit that we reserved online. But very upset that they tried to raise our rates literally 4 months into the contract. I fought them on it and they said they will only delay it by 3 months. We will definitely take our business elsewhere. Terrible business practice to bait & switch.
