I have been renting from go store it in the Wilmington area for the past 4 years. I recently moved to this facility. After being in the unit for roughly 30 days, I received an email notification that my rent would go from $140 to $220 a month. I will say that in the past all of my prices have gone up usually after about 60 days. This seems to be a standard practice with go store it. The interesting part about this is that there are still units available for the $140 a month upon receiving the email. I thought this might be an error of some sort so I contacted go store it. They called me back a day later and said that there was nothing they could do about it. I explained that their website still showed a unit available for $140 a month. I guess I could have just had somebody else rent the unit for me to save the $80. Rent increases shortly after move in seems to be a practice that they and other storage unit companies do as well. I'm assuming they feel that since you've moved from one storage unit to another or everything out of your home into a storage unit, then you'd pay more because you don't want to go through the frustration of moving everything again. The reason they gave in the notification was something to the effect of....increased costs. In reality, storage units are printing money at this point. Just be aware that when you're dealing with storage units they can do anything they want pretty much change your rent whenever they feel like it.

Please read through your contracts. It states they can raise the rent on the units at any time or any amount. And they stick to that because in just over a month renting from them they have gone up from $90.00 a month to $220.00 a month. Just a very unethical way to go to business. Especially in a college town taking advantage of younger adults. They definitely don’t care of all the time and energy people invest to move into these units just to have someone triple the rent. That’s not inflation or cost to do business that’s taking advantage of people.

Absolutely ABYSMAL Management. Go elsewhere! You will get a MINIMUM of two to three rent increases each year. My most recent one was a 57% increase (from $330 to $514) to which they cite "market conditions" aka GREED. In essence they are betting that you won't move your contents out due to cost/inconvenience. Well you were WRONG! I'll be sure to cross post this review in as many forums as possible.
