The roof had major leakage and we had things ruined. We had mentioned back in January we saw water and dripping from the ceiling into the hallway. They assured us they were handling it. We got a call that a recent storm from a day ago (early July) had caused leakage, however when we arrived there was already black mold in some of our boxes and there were fans and dehumidifier’s throughout the building, however not one was being run.
They nicely hired movers to move our stuff that was not ruined to a new, smaller unit and told us we would be refunded for July and have two months of free rent for another two months after that. But, I still have not been refunded and have received bills for August. NOTE: the price they are charging is much more than online.
No one will answer my call and I’ve had to ask my Credit Card company to dispute the charges. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS UNIT!!! I have gone by to talk to them, and was told the district manager would get in touch with me, hasn’t happened. Plus, honestly, I never went alone, as we were suspicious that there were people living in some of the units.
Very disappointing, Buyer Beware! So far, I can’t believe them.
BEWARE and DO NOT RENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Due to a recent transition, I moved out of my Public Storage unit of 3 years and my mom rented a unit to offload her items from my unit. I submitted a move out in December but scheduled the actual move for Jan 3rd because I couldn’t move out on New Years Eve. I thought surely I wouldn’t be charged the full month if we only used 3 days in January. However on Jan 3rd, I received a charge of $460 for the full month of January. I called the office to confirm I would get a partial refund and was told “I can’t prorate and we don’t prorate”. I explained we had been customers since 1985 and after some back and forth it was obvious they had no intent to refund or discount part of the month’s charges. That means instead of paying $44.49 for 3 days of usage, we paid $153.33/day in January.
Also, I and my family have rented units from public storage for 40 years. Sometimes we had 1 unit, others we had as many as 3 units but the money paid to Public Storage is roughly $200,000 over that 40 years. Rent has always gone up here an there but about 8 years, Public Storage started an obscene fee increase campaign which resulted in about $50/mo to $100/mo increases every year. My mom is retired and on a fixed income. As a result, we started spending every Christmas holiday purging things from our storage units. However, because city living is so tight we would always require some form of external storage. With the high costs of moving facilities we never had much choice but to accept the increases. A couple years ago, I learned Public Storage was charging new customers a quarter of the rent they had charged us for years. I periodically checked and new customer rates are still much much lower than existing customers. So as a big thank you to long term customers for spending so much, they give discounts to new customers and drain us financially.
So now after 40 years, I’m done. I will NEVER RENT FROM PUBLIC STORAGE AGAIN, I’m moving my elderly mother out of the unit she just rented and I will make sure everybody in the U.S. learns of our experience and don't rent from them.
Signed,
VERY dissatisfied and customer never again!
Brian was very helpful with getting my account squared away. He called me back when promised, and was very professional. Answered all my questions quickly and concisely. He is a top person to deal with and will do what he can to resolve issues for you.
Most HORRENDOUS Public Storage experience I've ever had! Did online reservation to move in on 12/9/2024. After getting a Uhaul and loading it up, I made my way to The Trashiest Public Storage, the dirtiest public storage, the most ghetto public storage! When I arrived at about 2pm, the Office door was locked. I knocked and nothing. Then more vehicles showed up trying to rent, trying to talk to an employee. I was able to finish my reservation online and get an access code and unit number at that time. We made our way inside to the building. There was trash everywhere. People had stuff laying all over the building and by the elevators. Speaking of elevators, only 1 worked, and it was the one furthest from my unit. So we went looking for a hand cart to use and help us move in. We could not find one. We spoke to another renter in the building, and they told us they are CHAINED AND LOCKED by the dumpster. So again we walked over to the front of the property to find the carts. There are 2 of them chained up. Also at this time we see a woman in a Public Storage uniform. We ask her if she can unlock one for us to use she said " I'm not working so No" she just kept telling us she wasn't gonna help us. I guess having a hideout place to do drugs with your friends in the parking lot is more important than doing her job. This is where I got even more angry! I spent 2 hours trying to reach a property manager an employee ANYONE! I called the help line and they tried calling the property manager and NOTHING. I SPOKE 2 15 DIFFERENT PEOPLE AND GOT NOTHING JUST PUT ON HOLD AND TRANSFERED TO SOMEBODY ELSE THAT COULDN'T HELP. I got transferred to a property manager in Modesto California with a street number of 22304 and NORMA did everything in her power to try and help. She called the property and other properties near by trying to help me. She called me back when she reached a Manny at a property near by Manny called me and he was useless and unbothered by my situation. At this time the employee returned back to the property and went into the office. And still refused to help us. Door was locked. We ended up dragging all of our belongings through the building and loading our storage unit. I will make it my lifetime goal to make sure nobody I know rents at a public storage. As soon as I find a new unit near by I will be leaving public storage forever. I was very loyal to the brand have used them several times over the last 10 years but NEVER AGAIN.
I want to speak directly to the district manager in charge of this property.
I have stuff stored out of state (changed jobs suddenly), but was glad to find I could drop my payment in any Public Storage slot anywhere, and as long as they have my account number, they can process it. Means I don't have to worry about the post office getting it there on time as well as saving me a stamp. The management at this location (Brian sp?) not only confirmed my payment immediately, but got me a reduced rate for a while!
