Well, after having been a customer for a little over a year I have had my rate hiked TWICE from $181 to $247, to now $300. The service is terrible, I’ve never been able to talk to the property manager, only third party customer support, the storage units are cheap and not climate controlled. The only reason I was ok using their poor quality units was due to the price which is no longer a selling point. They have a clause in their contract that gives them the ability to change the rate whenever they like with no rate locks for any period. I assumed that the business was reputable and wouldn’t start gouging me but they have almost doubled the rate in a single year. Poor quality product, poor quality service, predatory billing practices. They know full well that once you move in it’s very likely difficult to move out and so they are taking advantage of vulnerable customers. I can't express in words how awful my experience has been with public storage from the start. Save your money and either use a different business or just liquidate your stuff. It’ll save you money in the long run. Update: I checked and they’re still advertising a completely misleading price of $127/ month for the same 10x20 unit I am currently renting. Don’t trust the introductory pricing. It’s a scam.

Don’t do business with them! Not sure how they have such high rating, unless they hired their own people to write reviews. We rented a unit with them and what started at $148 a year ago, now they’re trying to charge $300. If you’re active duty and you can’t go in to speak with someone in person you can go ahead and forget about trying to call them,no one ever answers.

Predatory pricing, pricing structure designed to take advantage of deploying military. They don’t tell you the rate you get quoted is introductory, then a few months in jack up the rent by 40%. My 10x20 was $181 for only 4 months before they bumped the rent to $247. I tried contacting the property manager directly but after multiple attempts never made direct contact. I was only able to contact the answering service in India which provided no assistance, but after a few complaints to the property manager via voicemail I received a call out of the blue saying I was approved for a 3 month “discount” returning my rent to the original price. The person I talked to said I was “eligible” and I asked how they determined that, and she just said I have to call back in 3 months to see if I’m still “eligible.” It’s clearly a scam where they just hope you stop checking your monthly bills and they can quietly ratchet up the price. In fact I called back to complain and ran through the same rigmarole last month, was told I’d be approved to have this “discount” again over the phone, but the rent stayed at $247. VB is a military town and Public Storage is optimally set up to take advantage of deploying sailors. They give you a good price for just long enough so that by the time you’re haze grey and underway, they can raise the price and you’re unable to do anything about it because you’re a thousand miles away with no internet connectivity. If you’re in the Navy and considering a storage for your deployment, avoid Public Storage, they will take advantage of you. Pictures attached show the time frame they use to adjust the rent without warning and none of this is mentioned in the contract you sign. There’s only some vague language saying that they change the rent as they see fit, but no actual defined terms or guarantees of pricing for any period of time. The email attached only came after I was overcharged and complained through multiple phone exchanges and calls to the property manager who never picked up the phone. The “loyal customer” discount was not provided until they raised the rent and I complained, and you can see I paid two months of elevated rent before the complaints resulted in a brief discount to placate me, but was by no means provided in good faith due to my “loyalty.”
