I stored my things here and I’m very happy with the experience. The process was super easy for both moving in and moving out. I even got a free month, and Juana, the manager, helped me with all payment questions with complete transparency. On top of that, her customer service was exceptional, she’s a true professional. Highly recommend!
We stored our furniture at Extra Space Storage in San Diego for about four months while we were away for the summer. When we came back, we found the floor completely soaked with water, and many of our belongings were badly damaged — including three mattresses, their toppers, waterproof covers, storage bags, and several household appliances and furniture pieces. The total loss was over $8,000.
The water clearly came from the facility itself, seeping through the side and back walls of the storage unit. We have clear photo evidence showing large water marks in front of the unit, which means the flooding was visible for some time but completely ignored by management.
When we first reported the issue, the on-site manager admitted that they did not even know what was behind their facility, which shows a serious lack of inspection and maintenance. Later, when we discussed the damage and requested compensation, the district manager got involved — but he refused to take any responsibility or offer any compensation or refund.
Although we had insurance, it only covered $2,000, far below our actual losses. The facility refused to refund the four months of storage rent, even though the unit was clearly unsafe and caused extensive damage.
This was a truly disappointing and frustrating experience. We trusted Extra Space Storage to keep our belongings safe, but due to their negligence, lack of facility maintenance, and poor management accountability, we suffered major losses. I strongly recommend anyone considering this location to think twice and inspect your unit regularly.

I just had a call with management because the owner commented on this post and asked me to contact their office to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, nothing was resolved, and they still refuse to take responsibility. Why comment and ask me to call if it doesn’t lead to any action? It feels like it’s just for appearances—to make them look concerned without actually addressing the problem.
Great price, excellent service, I couldn’t be happier. We are full time RVers who frequently have to come off the road in random places. After having our truck stolen from an airport long-term parking lot, I’ve prioritized security and service above all else. Our experience with this location was all we could have asked for. It was super security—plenty of cameras, regular security walks, manager onsite—and the service was incredibly accommodating. I’m very happy we stumbled upon this location and we would happily use them again.
I have storage units at various locations and with different companies for my business. I have recently begun storing at this location and have nothing but positive things to say about Juana. She is so pleasant to deal with and has gone above and beyond to assist me.
I visited 3 locations within 2 hours to get large storage unit quotes.. All 3 people who helped me couldn’t have been more helpful and patient. I had an excellant experience. When I have more info I will get back in touch with them. You have great staff - Roper, Jamar and Juana. Thank you.
