I’ve been renting a unit at this storage facility for about four to five months. On day one, my access code didn’t work and it took over two hours to get in contact with someone at their call center to help me get into my storage— which was my first sign that this place wasn’t as organized or professional as it should be. Still, I stayed because I needed the space, and for months, I paid on time every single month without any issue whatsoever. My account was always in good standing, and I never missed a payment — until the very last month, when I let them know I’d be moving out soon. Conveniently, that’s when everything went wrong. For whatever reason, my final payment didn’t go through. Instead of retrying the payment like most companies do, they sent me an email saying “Thank you for your payment” — so naturally, I assumed everything was fine. The next day, I get another email saying my account is past due. I tried reaching out immediately, but apparently their phone line wasn’t working properly. I called multiple times, left voicemails, and even texted the same number that messages me every month about payments. I got no response. I finally reach someone days later, and after explaining everything and requesting that they waive the late fee (since this was my first issue in months of perfect payments), I was told I will be reached out to as soon as they got a response. I was never reached out to. Then, when I went to my unit to grab a few things, I found a double lock on it — no notice, no call, no email, nothing. After reaching out to them again, the person on the phone lets me know (to make things worse) the area manager responded with complete disregard. She said I had “multiple ways” to contact them — as if I hadn’t already done everything I could short of sending an email. The lack of accountability and customer care is shocking. It really feels like the moment I mentioned I was leaving, they stopped caring altogether and just wanted to squeeze out more money before I left. It’s disappointing and unprofessional, and I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone. If you’re considering storing your belongings here, save yourself the stress and go somewhere that values its customers, communicates properly, and doesn’t turn money-hungry the moment you say you’re moving out.

I thought this was a good place to get a storage unit until it came time for me to save my storage unit from going to auction 2 days after the lady had told me that my storage unit still was not put on the list for auction I was going to be able to save my stuff and I find out they had already cut my lock and opened my unit. From what I understand by law that is illegal, the lock is not supposed to be cut until day of auction. And Miss Sue made the mistake of letting me and my witness know that she is the one that cut the lock to inventory the unit before it was even to go to auction. That is a violation of policy and illegal. The storage unit is not supposed to be open at all by the storage facility until it is opened for auction. It is illegal to inventory the contents of the unit before it is put on auction. This shows that these people are actually going into people's units and getting the the good stuff out of the units before it goes to auction. I didn't notice a lot missing in my unit but I did notice my gold vial with 300-400 dollars worth of gold that I found in the River in Dawsonville was missing. Luckily they didn't go all the way in my unit because they probably would have took all my mining equipment and all out of the unit. I will never do business with this company ever again. They just proved that they are thieves. This time they done it to the wrong person and I'm calling them out on it. It is illegal to open a storage unit before it is put out for auction. It violates the terms of y'all's insurance. And it only proves that y'all are taking stuff out of the units before you sell it to people thinking there might be something good in a unit. Everyone beware this place does not play by the rules apparently they make up their own rules which actually go against the actual laws of how it should be done.

Customer for over 10 years. Star Storage will jack your rates annually and quote increase in operating costs. But, it's absolutely arbitrary and they ultimately said, well everyone else does it. It's an industry standard. Inflation was 2.6% and their increase is a solid 10%. Shows how much they support customer loyalty. Business model = The longer you rent with them the more you'll overpay for no reason. Other than that, my stuff sat protected... from afar. 3 stars for that but I wish I could give 0, separately, for customer appreciation.

The website says you can rent today online and move your stuff in right away. I tried it. They sent me a receipt for my payment. Did not send me an access code. I got to the facility. Still could not get in with the access without an access code. I called the number they gave me two codes that didn't work. Tried to call me a regional manager. He never got back with me and I waited around for an hour and a half and still couldn't get in

This facility has their phone numbers mixed up with a storage facility down the street. They say you can get same day access when you rent online but don’t give information on how to access the unit. It took me several phone calls and going from online facility to the next to be given info about the lock for my unit. Finally think I can access my facility and the access code is incomplete. A worker had to meet me there to open it up and make sure that my unit had a lock(they make you buy their lock). The monthly payment amount on the contract doesn’t match the monthly amount shown on the initial payment receipt. So far, not impressed. Only using it for convenience.
