On 02/16/26 Qiara, provided a Friendly Smile and Greeting with an Upbeat Attitude and an Eagerness to be of Service while working the Front Desk. I introduced myself to Qiara and presented her with a unique situation, one which she had no obligation to even entertain nor assist me with. . .
One that I am certain most in her position would simply reply with a lazy " I am sorry, but I cant help you". . .
However, Qiara , was attentive, patient and companionate and took note of the situation I was presenting to her, as i was a bit emotional, grateful and hopeful for his demeanor and genuine concern to assist me. I explained to her that I have been in custody of some property of a dear friend who has since passed, sadly, due to him taking his own life. . . and that I unfortunately, may be facing foreclosure, and that I wanted to insure that his property was returned securely to his family where it belongs... But that I had lost all contact with them and all that I could recall is at onetime they had or have a storage unit with Public Storage Farmington Hills and that I would be extremely grateful if I could get back in touch with them. Qiara took my information, took what info I had on the family... (which was fragmented), researched their records, made contact with the family, conveyed my message to them... received their permission to inform me of the families protocols established with Qiara for me to be able to safely return their loved ones property back them where it belongs. Qiara, then followed up with me, leaving me a friendly energetic voicemail approx. 2 hrs. later from my initial . . .
"well, here goes nothing"... approach... when I first walked into introduce myself to Qiara. T H A N K Y O U Q I A R A ! ! !
I know this review is lengthy and painfully detailed, yet so where Qiara's efforts... and lets face it, if this were an unkind review or complaint many would not take issue with its length and harsh comments. I believe firmly, if we would stop to issue a complaint about someone. . . We owe them the same time, energy and paise of a T H A N K Y O U ! ! !
T H A N K Y O U Q I A R A ! ! !
Thank you, and Stay well..

The manager at this location was so amazing and nice. She really helped me figure out my lock situation and made everything really smooth. She went above and beyond for my situation. I wish all establishments had a manager that is this helpful and kind!
I would not recommend this place. No one answers the phone when you try and call. The only option is to leave a voicemail and it usually takes a few days for them to call back. My rate was hiked up by $40 within a few months of first renting my unit. It wasn't like there was an introductory price that raises after a set amount of time either. I called to ask what was going on and they just said every now and then they check prices around the country and raise theirs to more align with pricing at competitors. The kiosk in the building doesnt work either. Between not answering the phone and not being able to self serve at the kiosk they pretty much leave you hanging if you have any questions or need any help. I was really disappointed with the service and the rapid price hike. I would never rent from this place again.
They did right by me and I'm happy. I moved out the last day of the month. I updated my move out in the android app the day that I moved out before I left the parking lot out side of the gate. On the next day, the first day of the month, I left a message with voice mail asking them to please refund because I didn't see the update in the app and I was being changed another month. Then I went back to the rental storage site and did a video call with the customer service rep from their kiosk inside the small unmanned office. They were able to answer after being on hold for a short 5 minutes, and confirmed with me that everything was refunded by the manager and my balance was zero, and they had just sent an email to confirm it. I'm happy that they took care of me. You just have to be out on the last day of the month, lock removed, and your storage unit needs to be empty and clean for them to rent out again.
TLDR: Maintenance here is lacking and they will happily take your money for subpar service. Feels like it’s run by a private equity firm—cut costs to bare minimum and do as little work as possible.
I already have a PS unit in another city so I thought booking a unit in Farmington would be easy with my existing credentials. It wasn’t. I tried for well over an hour, then called the office # and got voicemail & left a message. Then called the 800 #; they said I could go in and use the kiosk to book & pay. I went. The kiosk was unresponsive (broken?) until I hit the big blue handicap button. I finally booked & paid for a unit.
Following day I went to drop off a truckload of stuff. Keypad is right up against the gate so you need to exit vehicle to punch in code. They hadn’t shoveled or plowed so shoes got messy.
Numerous attempts & gate would NOT open. The office building is dark and it’s after 6pm so I called the 800# for help. Indian guy answered with a woman yapping loudly in the background. He said this location is open til 9. Why is it dark? He doesn’t know, “someone should be there.” He offered the manager’s number, which was just the branch’s phone number. I told him they never seem to answer here & still hadn’t returned my VM from yesterday. Not only was he no help, he was telling me things that aren’t true. While he was making up some nonsense (they are open, managers must be helping someone at another location,…) I walked in to try the kiosk. Lady on the kiosk apologized & said she’ll let the manager know & they will reach out to me tomorrow. But I have a full truck & I’m an hour from home, what am I to do? “The manager can discuss that with you tomorrow.” Wow. Thanks. Nothing is shoveled, it’s 16 degrees out, and I have a full truck I can’t take home. Isn’t there any maintenance to open the gate? No, the manager has to do that. Neither of them was willing or able to contact the manager, or a district or regional manager, to get the gate open. They have no maintenance on call to help. They can’t open it remotely.
After getting in a few days later I asked to have my unit rollup door fixed as it was incredibly rusted along the bottom. Rust flakes and falls off every time the door rolls up (The first day I got it in the face--It’s a legit safety issue).
More than a month passed and no effort was made to fix my rollup door. Based on incredibly long waits for maintenance at my other PS unit, I didn’t have high hopes my door would be repaired. I ended up pulling my stuff out to go somewhere better maintained. Was a big effort but I don’t need the headaches.
Phones seem to only be answered so that someone can tell you they can’t help with your issue. Site managers apparently are only on site a couple days a week. The other days the phones ring to another city. Maintenance is sorely lacking. I can’t recommend this place unless you’re in a bind and carry tools with you all the time, including a shovel in winter. It really is self-service here.
