I am appalled by SpareBox storage and wouldn’t recommended it to even my enemies. At first, they will give you a low rate- it’ll seem like you are getting a bang for your buck. Obviously, you don’t have anywhere to put your stuff which puts you in a situation where you unfortunately have to pay to put it somewhere. SpareBox will increase their rates drastically, and very very quickly. When they sent me yet another stipulation to the lease it gave me the option to “click to see my full lease.” When I clicked on it, they had my original lease. They accidentally sent the wrong information saying that I should pay significantly less than what they’re actually expecting. When I called and explained this, I told them that due to the fact they sent me the wrong information I felt this month I should pay what was sent to me. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told, “I’m not sure one can call you today” I was persistent in needing to speak to someone higher up and was finally transferred. After explaining all of this again, the ‘supervisor’ informed me that billing will contact me and I can speak to them about what happened and we can figure it out. I was told “you can wait until billing contacts you to make your payment and there will be no late fees while you wait” I asked many times if I could just be transferred to billing directly so this wasn’t prolonged, the request was denied and I could not be transferred. I needed to wait for a call from them, but was assured there would be no late fee while this is figured out. Low and behold, just like the ‘affordable rate’ that quickly changed but this time with no communication. I got a message saying my gate accessed is suspended. I was absolutely disgusted and called immediately. It makes no sense that when I was doing what was instructed of me, that I would no longer be able to access my belongings. I asked right away to be transferred to a ‘supervisor’ because I already knew that the customer service agent was not going to be able to assist me in this matter. There was push back on speaking with a supervisor but I was transferred through. While speaking with them they were not listening to what I was saying at all and kept interrupting me. It was like I was talking to someone reading off a script. Although I was told I was to wait for someone from billing to contact me about this matter, I was made to pay the full amount to get access to my unit. I have never in my life experienced such terrible customer service, and misled by what they call supervisors. If I could give SpareBox storage a 0 or even negative review, I would. This is the absolute worst storage unit company that you can use. Save yourself the headache and do not get a unit here!!

I was unable to access the unit I paid for as there was a lock on it. When I called customer service and woman named “Nikayla” said I could get a bigger unit for $30 more, a refund in 3-5 days, or the property manager would remove the lock within 72 hours. I am in the middle of moving and my truck is completely loaded up. I asked her why the website tells me I am ready to move in but I can’t because there is a lock on my unit, why does it take the property manager 72 hours to remove a lock on a unit I paid for when Sparebox is at fault. She would not answer me multiple times and when I repeated “hello” she would just say “I can reach out to the property manager” ignoring my question. She did this multiple times. I don’t know why Sparebox offers same day move in but has no helpful plan in place when there is an issue on their end, instead they upsell a bigger unit. I asked to speak to her supervisor and she said “They are not available right now, I can’t guarantee they will call you today”. When I said “fine I’ll have them call me” Nikayla promptly hung up. The whole conversation was like talking to a stonewall, I can’t wrap my head around it. Due to the urgency of my situation I had to call back and get a bigger unit, and they would not give me a discount due to their error. If I was not in the middle of moving, I would not have continued business with them.

I made a payment via my savings account on May 3. Money is still in my bank account 2 weeks later. Petrona took my call and was very helpful. She advised that my account is current and that I should contact my bank.

Do not use this place to store your belongings. Place says the storage units are central air an are absolutely not. I had wrapped my mattress twice before putting it in there for the winter and I come back to it all moldy. Having insurance through them means nothing either has 9/10 times they don’t cover majority of your items. Very bad customer service. Was supposed to meet with “owner” about my mattress and he would not meet with me on any times other than his own.
