Quite an unbelievable experience today. An almost 80 year disabled old lady who has been a customer of this company for many years fell ill and ended up in the hospital. She was worried about paying her February bill at this company and we offered to deliver the payment on her behalf (we had just visited her in the hospital because she is renting an apartment from us, has no known family of her own and we were just worried about her) The on-site manager - who was actually familiar with the customer and her frail health situation - tried to refuse acceptance of the payment because she had not paid a small 15.00 USD increase in monthly rent the company had recently imposed. He claimed she had not paid the increase for two months. It is not clear whether the company had even sent her a proper notice of the rent increase. He just mentioned a couple of unanswered phone calls. The on-site manager repeatedly threatened to not accept the payment and move to auction off her belongings. Since we were literally just “the mail person ” we moved to leave their office and just left the check. The on-site manager continued to follow us outside, continued his threats to return her check to her mailing address and auction off her belongings for - what we can tell - a maximum USD 30.00 over two months - something this lady might or might not even be aware off. To our knowledge she has been a customer since many years. We will attempt to monitor what action this company takes and hope they will change their behavior and be somewhat reasonable and we will update our post as necessary. In the meantime, based on this situation, we would highly recommend to stay clear of doing business with them. Really unfortunate to see something like this.
