I have had a unit this facility for 12+ years. I was here before public storage took over. When I started renting here my unit cost 135 dollars a month. Since public storage took over they started to increase the rent every year by 20-40 a month. I was ok with that, I know prices rise over time. Then all of a sudden I got an email saying I was getting a rate hike of 100 dollars and it was at the 6 month mark instead of the year mark. At this time it would bring my monthly rent to 460 dollars which is insane for any size unit let alone a 10x20. Well today I recieved a notification that my rent was going from 460 to 560 in a month. The most insane part about this is I called to speak with somone about this and they said there is nothing they can do. But they did confirm if I wanted to move my stuff from my unit to another unti a few feet away that is exactly the same, then I would get the new customer price which is less than 200 bucks a month. 560 dollars a month for a 10x20 unit at Public Storage in Hampton VA. Don't fall for the introductory price they advertise. It's in their rental agreement that they can hike the price any time they see fit. I attached a picture for proof. I covered my unit number, email and part of my account number for privacy.

Rent price hiked up 30% within a couple months. I went to change a set of wheels on my truck there and an employee approached me very rudely telling me " I don't know what you're working on, but you ain't doing it here" then proceeded to raise her voice as she yapped about the contract agreement and how I didn't read it. Totally unnecessary Karen reaction.

Unless you want your items water damaged in the climate control unit s, do not rent here. It's virtually impossible to reach a human customer service representative or a physical site manager. Incredibly rude and no one wants to take accountability.

Update: Feb.2026 After making numerous calls for a full 2 weeks someone finally got back to me and is going to look into the footage and see whom was trying to break into my unit, etc. But in the meantime I have not been in this Unit for barely 6months and already my Rental price has increased ontop of the issue of safety and someone breaking in... omg... not good business at all. Jan.2026... So I go to my unit by chance and notice that my unit lock has been tampered with and looks like someone was trying to break in and the metal latch that my lock was on was snapped in half, the metal itself... a BIG RED FLAG...they just have anyone on the premises walking the place when the gates are wide open, nevermind insurance. What are we paying for and not going to even speak about the expense of the place and you can't even feel safe that you stuff is secure enough. I have pictures for proof and I definitely didn't move into this unit with damage to the lock and metal loop. I've called 5 times and nothing good luck to anyone picking up the phone or calling you back from management. Very very disappointed... 2024-current.... Definitely was warned by others about the slip up of an increase in the rent not really a good enough notice. The last few times the gates did not work or the coded pad was not working. And the app started to glitch where my autopay was removed and luckily I caught it in time before I was hit with a late fee and penalties. Not good business practice. Too many issues as of late for them to increase the rent. ... Smooth and Easy Kiosk Check in and Susan helped with setting up the App so no need to worry about punching in a gate code or getting too close to the cement poles with your vehicle. 😉
